Privacy Policy

Your data, in plain English.

Peekcue is built around photos you take and friends you trust with them. This page explains everything the app sends off your phone, who it goes to, and the one button that deletes it all.

Your Account

In shortSigning up only asks for a name and username — never your real email or phone number, and there's no password to remember.

When you create a Peekcue account, you choose a display name and a username. That's it — we don't ask for your email address or phone number, and there's no password for you to set or remember.

Behind the scenes, the app generates a random internal credential to keep you signed in on this device, stored in iOS's secure Keychain. You never see it and never enter it. We also assign your profile an accent color from a small fixed set — we don't collect or store a profile photo.

Photos & Messages

In shortPeekcue only sees the specific photos you choose to send. It never scans or uploads your camera roll in the background.

Peekcue asks for photo library access so you can pick photos to send to friends — that's the app's whole purpose. We only access the photos you actively select; nothing is scanned, indexed, or uploaded without you choosing to send it.

  • Photos you send are uploaded and stored so your friend can view and guess who sent them.
  • Chat messages you send to friends are stored so the conversation stays available on both ends.
  • Friend connections — who you're friends with, and pending requests — are stored to power the core social graph.

None of this content is reviewed by us, scanned for advertising, or shared with anyone outside the friend you sent it to.

03

Device & Usage Data

In shortWe collect basic crash reports and app-usage stats — the boring, standard stuff that helps us fix bugs — not a profile of you.

Like most apps, Peekcue uses Firebase (Google's app development platform) to understand when something breaks and how the app is generally used:

DataPurposeLinked to your identity?
Crash & error logsDiagnosing bugs (Firebase Crashlytics)No
App usage eventsUnderstanding feature usage (Firebase Analytics)No
Push notification tokenDelivering notifications to your deviceYes

This is standard device and diagnostic information (like device model, OS version, and app version) — not a behavioral profile, and not used to advertise to you.

04

Who We Share With

In shortOne infrastructure provider (Google Firebase), zero data brokers, zero ad networks.

We use Google Firebase to host Peekcue's data, authentication, storage, and push notifications — it's cloud infrastructure, not a company we sell or license your data to. We don't work with advertising networks, data brokers, or analytics firms that build cross-app profiles.

We'll only share information beyond that if required by law, to protect Peekcue's users from harm, or as part of a future merger or acquisition of the Peekcue business — in which case this policy would still govern how your data is handled.

05

Tracking & Ads

Peekcue does not track you across other companies' apps or websites, and shows no third-party ads.

There's no advertising identifier collection, no ad SDK, and nothing in Peekcue asks for App Tracking Transparency permission — because we don't do anything that requires it.

06

Storage & Deletion

In shortDeleting the app from your phone does not delete your account. Use Settings → Delete Account inside the app instead.

Your data is kept for as long as your account exists, so friends can still see photos and messages you've shared with them. Uninstalling Peekcue does not delete your account or your data — reinstalling can sign you right back in.

To permanently delete your account, open Peekcue, tap the settings icon on the Friends tab, and choose Delete Account. This immediately and permanently removes:

  • Your profile, username, and friend connections
  • Photos and chat messages tied to your account
  • Your push notification token and sign-in credentials

This action can't be undone, and there's no recovery window — we designed it that way so "delete" actually means delete.

07

Your Rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us to access, correct, or delete the personal data we hold about you. Account deletion is self-serve (see above); for anything else — including an export of your data — email us at the address below and we'll handle it directly.

08

Children

Peekcue is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we'll delete it.

09

Changes to This Policy

If we change how Peekcue handles your data in a meaningful way, we'll update the effective date at the top of this page. Significant changes will also be communicated in the app.
